Disney Theme Parks Expand EV Charging Station Availability

Disney World is one of the most popular attractions in the U.S. In light of the ‘going green’ mandate, the United States has made many changes, especially its stress on Electric Vehicles (EVs) under the Biden administration.

The Disney theme parks in California and Florida have now installed EV charging stations that let users charge their cars faster. You will find these EV chargers at various locations in parking lots for the ease of visitors.

Where Are the EV Charging Stations Located in Disney Theme Parks?

All four of the Walt Disney World theme parks have EV charging stations. The first EV chargers were placed on the first-floor parking of the Disneyland Resort, California.

It has a total of 20 EV charging stations, which makes it one of the biggest collections of EV chargers in Southern California. They added 10 EV charging stations to staff member parking, bringing the total to 30.

EPCOT is a theme park in the Walt Disney World Resort in the Bay Area, Florida, that has about 5 ChargePoint EV charging stations, all of which are in the first row of The Journey Parking Lot. The Animal Kingdom Theme Park has 4 EV charging stations, which can be found in the front parking lot, and the Magic Kingdom has 5 EV charging stations.

What Kind of EV Charging Stations Are There?

Disney World and Disney Land use ChargePoint EV charging stations. It owns the largest network of over 19,000 EV charging stations. Until now, the theme parks mostly had Level 2 chargers, which take about an hour to charge for a 30-mile range.

Recently, the entertainment company has installed several Level 3 EV chargers that work faster. Disney controls the pricing of these EV chargers. In addition to the standard fees, guests will have to pay to charge their car at any of these EV charging stations.

You can either ask the cast member or attendant to direct you toward the EV charger or download the ChargePoint app. This dedicated app provides an easy and hassle-free way to find the closest EV charging station, how long it will take to fill up, the cost, and whether it’s currently occupied. This will save you time and energy roaming around or waiting in line to charge your vehicle.

How to Use the EV Charger?

You may ask the parking booth attendant to help you use the charger, it’s fairly simple. The charging will automatically stop once the battery is fully charged. This ChargePoint notification works best if you have the ChargePoint app.

The rates at Disney Theme Parks may change, but you can expect to pay $0.35 for every kilowatt hour and a service charge of $1.50. You might incur an additional charge if you keep your vehicle parked at the EV charging station after your car has been charged.
